A Project!

I love to redo furniture! A few years ago . . . when I lived with Jen Farrell before she was Farrell! I was at a garage sale at one of her neighbors houses. This sweet woman gave me a small little dresser. It was in pretty bad shape. It's that kind of dresser that has the veneer wood on it. Several layers of it were peeling off. Not long after that I decided to pain the dresser green. I bought some pillows at pier one and it matched it I was going to make the dresser a TV stand. I found the exact shade that I wanted on a dresser in Pottery Barn and took it to Home Depot to have them match. This is what it looked like when it was done.
Well, now this piece of furniture is going to go in the dining room. Right when we put in in there I knew I wanted to paint it. When there was a lot of light shinning on the green the color just didn't look the same and I didn't like it as much. Also, in the living room and dining room I am moving toward a primary palate of yellow, blue, and red with some neutrals thrown in.

So I decided to paint the dresser red! Here is color I used. It's called Caliente! It is a nice warm red.
Before you can change from one color to another though you need to first prime the piece. Here is what that looks like.
Then, I added the color and a finishing coat of polyurethane so it's actually usable! Here is the finished product.
I lined the drawers too!

  1. I am so jeal-o at how crafty you are Kimmy. I mean, my painting does NOT look like that!
